Last week parliament had a tough argument on whether to take back money allocated for laptops to teachers who are on strike, it was a battle between the two coalition in parliament that is cord and jubilee.
The motion was debated where the two rivalry coalition disagreed and not only disagreed they disagreed vehemently as cord leaders supported while jubilee disagreed, it reached a point they were to decide on ballot as to whether the money allocated for laptops would be turned to cater for teachers demands.
Cord leaders claimed the laptop is not the priorities the jubilee government should consider, they complained and persistently insisted teachers should come first. They compared a student in Turkana on how you would teach them on how to use the laptops under trees and others claimed the government should consider building and restructuring schools.
On their side jubilee government with their tyranny of numbers in parliament insisted laptops promise should be implemented, obviously with their numbers they rejected the motion.
Politics will never lack 5years in power is not a long period both coalitions had their promises on their blueprint the jubilee won, people will judge them on how they will have achieved on their promises, if laptops will not be implemented the cord coalition will have a trap card to out do their opponent.
You cannot see directly the politics behind it but if you look on a perspective on how the politicians in parliament dramatized the whole issue you can see the truth behind it.
If you promise a child something you should be ready to give, even the bible says a child can not ask her father a bread and he give her a stone so whatever government promised children it should be implemented with heart
The world has changed in terms of ICT sector and people must accept the fact and stop the critics of excuses of teachers strike.
Teacher is a valuable human being in our society and government should address their demands with utmost good heart, everybody have passed through them, whether you are President, doctor, Politician and everybody you would like to mention.
It's high time teachers should be recognized by the government, if it were members of parliament wanted to increase their salaries all of them they would have been united but when something that is of public interest they part ways.
The government has money so laptop funds allocated should not be diverted to cater for teachers let the treasury release money to cater for teachers, as each and every financial year ministries returns billions of their unused funds to treasury so those funds can solve the strike
Politics should change and our leaders should keep their animosity and ammunition and discuss matters that is of public interest.
Let teachers have their share because they are privileged to it.
